Applied Mathematics— EP30

The Applied Mathematics program is designed to be offered at both the bachelor’s level (4 years, equivalent to 130 credits) and the engineering level (4.5 years, equivalent to 150 credits). The program aims to train graduates with a solid foundation in modern mathematics and applied mathematical methods to solve problems in science, engineering, economics, finance, and technology; to equip them with the ability to flexibly apply and effectively use mathematical tools and specialized software for modeling, analysis, computation, and solving practical problems; and to develop logical and quantitative thinking skills. The curriculum provides learners with logical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and lifelong learning capabilities, enabling them to work in interdisciplinary environments, quickly adapt to advancements in science and technology, and meet the requirements of international integration and sustainable development.

Graduate outcomes

During the course of study, students enrolled in the Applied Mathematics program (both bachelor’s and engineering levels) at the National Economics University will be equipped with the following knowledge, skills, and attributes:

  • A foundational knowledge of politics, society, law, natural sciences, and economics.

  • Solid mathematical knowledge and in-depth expertise in applied mathematics, statistics, and data science to support modeling and solving practical problems.

  • Skills in applying modern mathematical methods, programming, data analysis, and using specialized software to build, analyze, and evaluate quantitative models in fields such as quantitative finance, optimization, and data science.

  • Logical, systematic, and critical thinking; the ability to analyze and solve problems, and to present professional content through writing and presentations; effective communication with stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in English for professional purposes.

  • The ability for self-study, independent research, and both independent and teamwork; adaptability to diverse working environments.
