In 4 years of study, Mai achieved 9 points or more in 35/39 subjects. If calculated on a 4-point scale, Mai gets a perfect score. This result helped her surpass the record of 9.59 points set by last year's valedictorian. According to the school representative, Mai is the student with the highest average score on a 10-point scale in NEU's nearly 70-year history.

Once a student majoring in Chemistry, Mai initially planned to major in Medicine and Pharmacy. However, the influence of her mother's work teaching statistics led her to switch to the data field. In 2021, Mai was admitted to the National Economics University, majoring in Data Science in economics and business, program taught in English. To study well in her chosen major, Mai always proactively reads the textbook in advance, prepares English terms, asks questions during class and reviews regularly.

In addition to excellent academic results, Mai also has 6 scientific research projects, of which 3 were presented at international conferences. She especially loves two subjects, "Data Preparation and Visualization" and "Machine Learning" because they provide opportunities to apply programming and practical data analysis.

In year 3, Mai participated in Viettel's talent selection program and officially worked here since year 4. She is currently researching artificial intelligence (AI) applied in economics.

Regarding her future direction, Mai said she will continue to work to accumulate experience, then look for opportunities to study abroad and aim to become a lecturer. For her, success comes from perseverance and daring to challenge: "You have to do it to know whether it will work or not. If you don't do it, the results will not come."

The College of Technology congratulates Thieu Ngoc Mai - NEU's record valedictorian. Wishing you continued success and brilliant development!
