At the beginning of the discussion, Prof. Dr. Ho Pham Minh Nhat (University of Texas - Austin) presented a presentation on the pivotal role of Applied Mathematics in the field of data science and artificial intelligence. He affirmed that in the era of data explosion, Mathematics is no longer just a support tool but has become the foundation for developing models, algorithms and intelligent systems, thereby shaping strategies and solutions in many fields such as finance, healthcare, logistics and public management.

The presentations at the Seminar agreed that Applied Mathematics is the pillar of data science and artificial intelligence, playing a decisive role in many fields from business, finance, insurance to technology, health care, and public management. Representatives of management agencies and businesses said that the need for human resources to analyze data and build models is increasing rapidly, but the labor market currently lacks these skills, so the National Economics University opening a major in Applied Mathematics is necessary and has a clear advantage.

MSc. Le Thi Nhu Quynh - Vietcombank Risk Management Tools and Models Department presented the paper "Applied Mathematics human resource needs: Perspectives from the Banking industry and labor market"

Within the framework of the discussion, speakers from regulatory agencies and businesses emphasized the increasingly important role of Mathematics and modeling in data mining to serve the decision-making process, especially in fields such as finance, banking, insurance, technology, manufacturing and logistics. Faced with the fact that human resources still lack skills in data analysis and model building, opinions suggest that it is necessary to strengthen links between schools and businesses so that training is linked to practical needs. At the same time, experts affirmed the need to open an Applied Mathematics major at the National Economics University - a training facility with interdisciplinary strengths and rich experience in applying Mathematics to modern fields such as data analysis, risk management and optimization.
