Research cooperation between the Faculty of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, College of Technology - NEU and VNPT AI won the Champion prize at AI City Challenge 2025

At the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV 2025) in Hawaii (USA), the research team including AI engineers from VNPT Group and lecturers from the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, College of Technology - National Economics University excellently won the Champion award in the category“Processing and recognizing objects from ultra-wide-angle camera image data at the edge device (Edge AI)”within the framework of AI City Challenge 2025 - one of the world's leading prestigious competitions on the application of artificial intelligence in smart cities. This victory followed the success of 2024, when the research team achieved the highest position at the CVPR 2024 Conference, continuing to affirm the "Make in Vietnam" technological capacity among more than 30,000 competing teams from AI powers around the globe.

The excellent performance at AI City Challenge 2025 is a testament to the effectiveness of strategic cooperation between the College of Technology - National Economics University and VNPT Group, and demonstrates the high-quality research and training capacity of the Faculty of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

In the research team, lecturers and scientists of the Faculty play an important role in developing algorithms and AI models, typically Dr. Luong Van Thien (Research Team Leader) and PhD. Vu Huan (Deputy research team). With deep expertise in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision, the two teachers directly participated in building and optimizing image processing models, helping the system achieve real-time performance on edge devices (Edge AI) with high accuracy, even in conditions of complex data distortion.

This result shows the effectiveness of the Lecture-Enterprise cooperation model, where academic research is applied directly into practice, creating pervasive technological value. Through this project, students of the Faculty of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence also have the opportunity to access and learn practical experiences from international research projects, contributing to improving professional capacity and applied thinking in a high-tech environment. 

Achievements at AI City Challenge 2025 are not only the pride of the research team but also an important step in the journey to elevate Vietnam's AI position in the international arena. Faculty of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, College of Technology - National Economics University affirms that it will continue to promote cooperation with leading technology corporations, including VNPT AI, to create a learning and research environment linked to practice, meeting the need for high-quality human resource development in the era of artificial intelligence.
