Introductory and training session for lecturers on the subject "Basic Data Science in Economics and Business"

On July 30, 2025, the College of Technology - National Economics University successfully organized the introduction and training session for lecturers in the subject "Data Science in Economics and Business". This is a kick-off activity for teaching this subject to all NEU students starting from the fall semester of 2025.

Data Science in Economics and Business is a new interdisciplinary subject, designed to equip students with thinking and data mining skills, serving the decision-making process in the modern economic and business environment. The subject is in the direction of training digital citizens and improving data analysis capacity for students across the school.

The entire course content is built based on a modern electronic textbook, compiled in Python and Jupyter Book. This is the collective intellectual product of the College of Technology lecturers, and is also an open resource (including data, code,...), shared publicly on GitHub.

To optimize the learning experience, the course is implemented on the Smartdoc platform - a system developed by the Faculty of Information Technology. Smartdoc allows students to directly execute Python commands on lecture slides, without needing to install software or write complex code (can run commands using iPad, phone, or any other device)

The course is currently being implemented by the College of Technology faculty. However, starting from the spring semester 2026, the school encourages lecturers from other faculties and institutes in NEU to participate in teaching. Interested lecturers, after understanding the course outline, textbook and lecture slides, can register to listen to lectures and participate in teaching by sending an email to: truongcongnghe@neu.edu.vn
